Coarse Fishing in Southern France, Book Review
The well-worn saying that you should never judge a book by its cover could never be more applicable than to this handy fishing book. On the outside having all the allure of a pair of old school exercise books, yet on the inside containing a plethora of invaluable information and advice for any angler looking to go fishing in France.
Of course, for readers of this magazine the main focus of interest will untouchably centre upon what he has to say about the predator fishing. Clearly, the focus will be in catfish. Nevertheless, good pike and zander are there to be caught by the adventurous angler. My own PB French pike is 28lb, albeit caught on a bait intended for catfish.
As well as information concerning the actual fish and fishing to be expected, the fishing book offers advice on permits for each region is also invaluable. Not only where they may be obtained, but also the intricacies of what is allowed, when and where is also covered. The latter is especially handy for anyone not wishing to have their tackle confiscated – unlike yours truly! In this respect, the information on where night fishing may be legally practised will be especially useful for the budding catfish hunter.
Even if you are not intending to mount a major expedition to Southern France, the fishing book will also be a great resource for any angler going on a family holiday to France who may also want to chuck in a bit of tackle for a few hours fishing.
